Summary:

Daybooks and ledgers of Edward Nicoll Dickerson, a lawyer, mechanical engineer, and son of Philemon Dickerson. After his admission to the bar in Paterson, New Jersey in 1845, Dickerson practiced law in New Jersey and New York, representing Samuel Colt and Charles Goodyear in two important cases. Meanwhile, his interest in engineering led to consulting work for the Society for Establishing Useful Manufactures and the Suckasunny Mining Company.
