Summary:

Notes for a sermon on the text of Ephesians 1:6 — “Wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”  Born at Hopewell, New Jersey, Gano attended classes at the College of New Jersey (now Princeton  University) and in 1754 was ordained pastor of the Baptist Church in Morristown.  In 1762 he became pastor of the Baptist Church in New York, occupying this post for over a quarter of a century.  He served as a chaplain in the Continental Army, and later conducted preaching tours in Kentucky and North Carolina.
