Letters, chiefly of James H. Woodruff, Jr., a Hackettstown,
Warren County, N.J. resident who moved to New York City in search
of work and then to Santiago, Chile.  Included are letters
describing his voyages to and experiences in South America.
Woodruff married Clara Dufford of Newark before he left for South
America.  The few letters in the collection which postdate
Woodruff’s death are either by or to his wife.
