Separate accounts of a two-week trip from Newark through New York
State to Niagara Falls and Canada kept by a brother and his two
sisters. The writer(s) of the first volume (Jabez and/or Emily)
describe the scenery of Troy, Schenectady, and Canada and comment
on the medicinal qualities of the “waters” in Saratoga.
Ellen Tichenor, the writer of the second volume, describes the
dances which she and her siblings attend and comments on the
people that they encounter.
