Biographical Note:

Samuel Gardiner Wright was a farmer and businessman
born on November 18, 1781 in Wrightstown (Monmouth County), New Jersey.
Mainly self-educated, he was primarily a merchant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
but also owned a farm near Imlaystown (Monmouth County), New Jersey and several
iron furnaces in New Jersey and Delaware.  Wright was elected as a Whig to
the Twenty-ninth Congress and served from March 4, 1845, until his death on July
30, 1845.  His death, however, occurred before Congress met for that year,
and he was never able to take his seat in the House of Representatives.  He
is interred in the East Branch Cemetery near Imlaystown, New Jersey.
