Summary:

Inscribed “Caleb Peirson his book.  Ritten January llth, 1769.” Notes on family genealogy continued after Caleb Pierson’s death by Elijah Pierson, and occasional notes on sermons preached at the First Presbyterian Church (Old Caldwell Meeting House) in Caldwell, New Jersey.

Biographical Note:

Caleb Pierson (1738-1801), a miller born in Orange, New Jersey, married Joanna Baldwin (1745-1790), with whom he had twelve children: Sarah (1763-1821), John (1765-1847), Elizabeth (1767-1793), Jephthah (1769-1844), Israel (b. 1772), Joanna (1773-1850), Abraham (1776-1841), Jain (1778-1784), Elijah (1780-1862), Lydia (1782-1829), Rhoda (1784-1850), and Naomi (1786-1808).  The family lived in Caldwell, New Jersey.

Elijah Pierson, the ninth child of Caleb and Joanna, married Martha Williams (1780-1852), with whom he had eight children: James Crocket (1806-1806), Louisa (b. 1807), Elijah B. (1810-1876), Calvin (b. 1811), Maria (b. 1813), Caleb Nelson (1815-1866), Rev. David Harrison (b. 1818), and Nathan Williams (b. 1824).

This volume is primarily a record of family birth and death dates kept by Caleb Pierson and Elijah Pearson from 1733-1876.  Also included are occasional notes on sermons preached at the First Presbyterian Church in Caldwell, New Jersey.  The volume is not indexed.
