Jersey Historical society in 1939 after the death of Mr. Joseph
Warren Greene, Junior, a member of the Society since 1929.

Scope and Content Note:

This collection, ca. 1930-1939, consists of a wide array of topical information about New Jersey. Authored by the historical researcher and writer, Joseph Warren Greene, Junior, these papers provide a personal view about many “current” historical events and subjects in New Jersey.

These papers were primarily written after Mr. Greene’s retirement from his legal practice in New York
City. This collection can be loosely divided into five
categories of topics; notes on cities, summer resorts in New
Jersey, New Jersey transportation, people in New Jersey, and
miscellaneous history and facts dealing with New Jersey. While
this voluminous collection is not divided into series, the
folders do follow a basic order that flows by subject, with each
alphabetized accordingly. While the individual folders do
not contain the dates that their contents were written, the
collection was written during ca. 1930-1939 and contains
information dating as far back as 1736.
