The New Jersey Historical Society honors the Forbes family at Annual Gala

2003-11-14

The New Jersey Historical Society will honor the Forbes family during their Annual Gala Fundraiser “History in the Making” on Wednesday, November 20, 2002.

Cocktails will be held in the lobby of the Historical Society at 52 Park Place at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner and dancing at The Mezzazine in the Newark National Building at 744 Broad Street. Jim Courter of IDT Corporation and Finn M.W. Caspersen of Knickerbocker LLC are serving as gala co-chairs.

In an industry increasingly dominated by public media conglomerates, Forbes remains one of the largest and most successful family businesses of its kind. A distinguished New Jersey family, the Forbes’ have held a passionate interest in preserving New Jersey’s unique history for three generations. Their significant contributions to The New Jersey Historical Society, as well as to many other fine cultural and civic institutions throughout the state, have created a legacy that will serve future generations of innovative thinkers.

Proceeds from the gala will benefit educational programming, exhibitions and general operations at The New Jersey Historical Society, a non-profit library and historical museum that collects, preserves and interprets New Jersey history to diverse audiences.
