PSEG makes donation to NJHS library

The library of Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) has donated an extensive collection of books, pamphlets, and published government reports to the library of The New Jersey Historical Society at 52 Park Place, Newark, NJ.

"The New Jersey-based company, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, maintains a repository of information on municipalities, fuels and resources, the state’s environment, and other New Jersey statistics for company use," said Chad Leinaweaver, Director for the Historical Society’s Library.

In an effort to modernize their operations, PSEG now receives some of this information electronically or in other formats for easier access. The company decided to donate these archival materials to the Historical Society’s library, which houses original and print materials documenting New Jersey history from the colonial era to the present.

This new acquisition, which contains more than 300 titles, includes previously-issued New Jersey census statistics, state government reports, annual municipal reports, annual reports of other organizations and institutions, biographical dictionaries, Chamber of Commerce publications, reports of regional planning authorities, and a wide selection of books, ranging from New Jersey’s civil boundaries to mosquito control.

“This gift from PSEG demonstrates the type of ongoing commitment and support that makes the corporation such a good corporate neighbor,” said Sally Yerkovich, President & CEO of The New Jersey Historical Society. “PSEG is notable for the fact that it isn’t satisfied with just making history, it also understands the significance of preserving history for future generations.”

The Historical Society’s library hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 12 Noon to 5 p.m.
