Spice up your Valentine's Day with Salsa Lessons

Feel the beat. Experience the rhythms. Spice up your shimmy – and your Valentine’s Day – with a salsa lesson hosted by The New Jersey Historical Society.

Join us on Saturday, February 14, 2004, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at 52 Park Place in Newark where Felicia Lee Banks, the award-winning Director of the Continental Dance Club in Bloomfield, NJ, will teach the latest steps, spins, turns, dance combinations, and hand styling of this popular and sensual Latin dance.

Banks, who describes salsa as a “balance of ballet with the fire of flamenco,” is a member of the Dance Educators of America, star performer in NJN’s Images/Imagenes documentary on Argentine Tango, and the winner of the Top Female Dance Teacher’s Award, American Star Ball.

With easy-to-follow instructions, Banks will break down the nuances of salsa for aspiring dancers, from beginner to intermediate. The cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Come on your own or with a partner. No experience necessary. For more information or to reserve your space, please call Lily Hodge at (973) 596-8500, ext. 234.
