Internships
Intern positions are available year-round at the Historical Society for college and graduate students. Interns to the Historical Society may help to catalog various museum objects, organize archival records, teach hands-on education programs, perform historical research and much more.
The New Jersey Historical Society is a statewide, private nonprofit historical museum, research library and education center dedicated to preserving and interpreting the intricate political, social, cultural, and economic history of New Jersey. Through the history of New Jersey, The New Jersey Historical Society promotes exploration of our cultures, past and present. As we challenge and inspire people to grow as learners and thinkers, we strive to make a difference in their lives. The Historical Society implements this vision through its exhibitions, education programs, publications, collections and research library.
Internships at the Historical Society are diverse. Placements are made based on the abilities of the applicant and the availability of projects. Applicants should send a cover letter and resume to the address below. Unfortunately we cannot respond to all applicants, therefore only selected individuals will be notified to come in for an interview.
We do ask that students commit to at least one hundred hours over a semester (approximately 8 hours a week). Many students have participated in internships to earn college and graduate course credits. Check with your school for more information.
