Stompin’ at the Shore: Leisure Time in Atlantic City’s African American Community
(July 11, 2001 – March 2002)

Over sixty photographs and period advertisements from the Atlantic City Historical Museum and private collections capture show business traditions and recreation in Atlantic City’s African American Community from the turn of the century to recent times. Images include the Arctic Avenue Easter Parade, revelers rockin’ at the Club Harlem with Louis Armstrong and Damito Jo, renowned entertainer Sammy Davis, Jr. and civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. at Atlantic City’s world-famous beach, and much, much, more.
