PINE BROOK DRAINAGE COMMISSION

Letters, diagrams, and documents concerning the digging of a
drainage ditch from a point near Pine Brook on the Passaic River
to the mouth of Deepavaal Brook in the town of Caldwell.
Authorized by an act of the NewJersey legislature in 1858, the
project was supervised by a commission which included Joseph
Booth, Henry Hilliard, and William Kitchell. Included are letters
of John R. Burnet, Lemuel W. Serrell, and Asa Whitehead, as well
as lists of “owners and possessors of flowed lands on
the Passaic.”
