Administrative History:

The Mechanics’ Fire Insurance Company operated in Newark, New Jersey during the period from 1825-1841.  In this
volume, the first listed president of the company was James Vanderpool, Esq. (1775-1842), who was followed in that capacity by Ephraim Bolles from 1830-1837, and by William A. Myer, Esq. from 1837-1841.

This volume was the gift of John R. Carter
in 1898.

Scope and Content Note:

This volume is a record of the Mechanics’ Fire Insurance Company’s stock transactions from 1825-1841.  A typical
page contains the date of the transaction, the names of the investors involved in the share trade, and the number of shares traded.  Among the investors are members of the Baldwin, Ball, Condit, Congar, Crane, and Dodd families.
