John Whitehead’s letter book, 1837-1840, together with William A. Whitehead’s “Reminiscences of Key West,” nos. 1- 13; customs record book retained by William as collector of the port of Key West, Florida, 1835-1837, and pasted over by him to make a scrapbook, 1839-1844. In 1828 William A. Whitehead of Perth Amboy went to Key West to assist his brother John in developing this island. Between 1830 and 1838 William served as collector of the port of Key West.
