A “”Weekly Summary of Events happening during nine
month’s service in Co. K 30th Regt. New Jersey Volunteers by
Isaac P. Brokaw, Middlebush, Somerset Co. New Jersey.” The diary
was kept from September 1, 1862, the date of Brokaw’s enlistment
at Flemington, until June 17, 1863, when he was mustered out of
the Army. After being reviewed by President Abraham Lincoln in
Washington, D. C., Private Brokaw’s unit saw action in the
Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville campaigns.
