Scope and
Content Notes:
The Susanna P. Zwemer
Papers contains correspondence, speeches, reminiscences, and
other papers of a former president of the Consumers League of New
Jersey. This collection spans the years 1931-1985 and was
collected by Susanna P. Zwemer, (1895-19??), who was a civic
artist, and social reformer in New Jersey. Zwemer was
initially active with the League of Women Voters, but later
focused her energies on the Consumers League. She served as
president of the Consumers League of New Jersey, 1940-1947 and
1963-1971. The collection is comprised primarily of
Zwemer’s recollections of her involvement with the Consumers
League and their work on fluoridation, consumer credit, migratory
farm labor, milk pricing and quality control, radiation exposure,
and wages and hours. Also included is the correspondence of the
Consumers League president, 1963-1971.
The
original processor compiled a typewritten list of materials
donated as part of the collection, and this has been reproduced
below.
