A variety of materials pertaining to the Brooks family of
Scranton, Pennsylvania and the Matchin family of Bristol, England
and of Danville, Pennsylvania.  Included is correspondence
from Mary H[urley] Brooks to her husband [Charles Preston
Brooks], a letter from J[ames] H. M[atchin] to his grandson James
Emery Brooks correspondence from William Jones to Jonathan Webb
concerning the death of Hannah Matchin.  In addition there
are legal papers and a survey map pertaining to the sale and
ownership of “Matchin’s Pottery” in Bristol, England.
The collection includes a little genealogical information of the
Hiatt, Matchin and Brooks families as well as an essay titled
“Manliness” by Newton M. Brooks.
