Manuscript Group 1286, Burlington County, NJ, Collection, 1645 – 1868

Archives Documents, Manuscripts, Maps, & Photographs

1286. BURLINGTON COUNTY, N.J.

Collection, 1645-1868.  1 ft.

While comprised primarily of Burlington County, N.J. deeds, this
group contains a few wills, commissions, bonds, surveys,
quitclaims and legal documents pertaining to both New Jersey and
English transactions.  Much of the earliest items in the
collection deal with the settling of West New Jersey.  Of
special interest is an indenture permitting the followers of John
Wesley to lease a house in Trenton from John and Anne Rozell of
Hunterdon County for worship providing the lessees “preach
no other Doctrine than is contained in John Wesleys Notes on the
New Testament.”  Detailed inventories are available.
