Scope
and Content Notes:

The
Halsey Family Papers contains photographs, newspaper clippings,
passports, and correspondence pertaining to the family of Silas
Condit Halsey (1832-1906), United States Consul to Sonnenberg,
Germany during the 1890s.  These documents span the years
1791-1956, with bulk dates of 1791-1900 and are contained in one
archival box.  Also included are materials
concerning/relating to the Day and Price families as well as
Samuel Halsey (1801-1884), Isaac Halsey (1757-1820), Ella Louise
Price Halsey, and Jesse Hildreth Halsey (b. 1871).  Of
special interest are three groups of material kept by Silas C.
Halsey: documents and newspapers of the Civil War era, autographs
of nineteenth-century artists and photographs of the Sultan of
Jahore, the royal family of Coburg, Germany and of Queen
Victoria.
