Hugh Hughes was the deputy quartermaster
for the state of New York. He was based at Fish Kill, New York in 1782.
Edwin Ely donated this collection in 1928.
This daybook contains copies of orders and
requests made to and by Hugh Hughes while he was the deputy quartermaster of New
York in 1782. The orders and requests vary a great deal, but are often for
such things as horses, hay, and bran. The daybook includes letters from
Timothy Pickering, Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, and George Washington.
