Summary:

A collection of material pertaining to “the connectional agency through which all missionary and church extension enterprises of the Methodist Episcopal church in the Newark District of the Newark Conference are promoted and maintained.”  The Society was incorporated in 1907 with the hopes that it would “promote the social, financial, and spiritual interests of Methodism.” Included are meeting minutes, reports of the Corresponding Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer Finance Committee and the Superintendent of Missions; and correspondence among ministers, bills, cancelled checks, and receipts.   Of special interest is the correspondence, monthly reports, and financial statements of the Downtown Boys’ Club and the reports of the Superintendent of Missions on missionary work carried out among Italian-Americans in Elizabeth, Newark, Nutley, and Silver Lake, New Jersey.
