Biographical Note

The collection mentions two men with the surname Heuschkel, Frederick and Ludolf Louis. The relationship between the two men
is unknown.

German-born Frederick Heuschkel seems to have served in the First Regiment of the New Jersey Artillery during the Civil War.
After serving a three year term, he was discharged from the service in Trenton N.J., on August 18, 1864.

Ludolf Louis Heuschkel married Miss Wilhelmine Auguste Anna Paul in Newark, N.J. on March 30, 1889.
