Mellon Foundation.Finding aid written in English. Biographical Note:This collection contains a series of letters sent out by Rosa M. Adam to her husband Dr. George Adam and to her sister, Ellen. Many of the letters were written when Rosa was away from her husband while staying at her birth family’s house in Newark, New Jersey and were sent to Dr. Adam at his residence in Canaan, Litchfield County, Connecticut. Other letters are from Rosa’s sister Ellen. There is also an 1825 letter to a Mary Francis Adam in Canaan, Connecticut, from an unknown person. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Content NoteThis is a collection of a series of letters written by and sent to Rosa M. Adam from 1839-1850. The collection contains 23 loving, elegantly stylized manuscript family letters. There is a wealth of information concerning family, household issues, travel and New Jersey medical news. In these letters, Rosa reports on her own and other family members social and shopping trips to New York City and their various other activities and domestic issues.
