Scope and Content Notes:
This collection includes the records of two manufacturers of steam boilers: the L.J. Lyons Company founded in 1842 and the McCabe Boiler Corporation which evolved from it and replaced it in 1900. The collection includes the financial records of both businesses for the years 1865-1918; eight volumes of employee records, 1865-1903 (which supply the employees’ names, days worked, type and location of employment), account books, 1893-1918; order books 1875-1910, specification books, 1878-1902; specification contracts 1892-1971, a cash book, 1913-1918; and a few photographs showing the grounds of the boiler works.
