This collection is comprised primarily of a series of diaries
written and illustrated by Anna Lindner that chart the growth and
development of her niece Emilie Paulina Lindner (1895-1985). In
an introductory note at the start of the series of ten diaries
that span 1895-1908, Anna wrote, “This is a journal kept for
Emilie to note her progress and study her character.” Anna
Lindner lived with her brother Frank Herman Lindner (1848-1923),
his wife Paulina Suess Lindner (1860-1940) and their child
Emilie. Anna Lindner was a talented watercolorist and
pen-and-ink illustrator whose art was exhibited at the National
Academy in 1869. The museum of
