Summary

Summary:

Payroll records kept by a
textile factory in Little Falls, Passaic County, New Jersey.  This volume
also includes some accounts of Baldwin and Camp, 1826, a New York grocer.

Administrative
History:

Osgood and Company was a textile
manufacturer that used the water power of the Passaic River in Little Falls
(Passaic County), New Jersey.  This enterprise was owned by Walter F.
Osgood (fl. 1814-1817) and predates both of the town’s better-known mills, the
Beattie Manufacturing Company Carpet Mill and the New Jersey and Little Falls
Carpet Mill.

Provenance
Note:

The source of this
collection is unknown.

Scope
and Content Note:

This volume contains payroll records of
the Osgood and Company from 1814-1817.  Unfortunately, due to water damage
about one-forth of these records are illegible.  Another company, Baldwin
and Camp, later Wilson and Camp, used the volume in 1825-1826 as an account
book.  These accounts, however, contain minimal information and are not
indexed.
