Inquests, from the Essex County Coroner’s Office (1854-1855), into the deaths of residents in the county by coroners and local  physicians, with affidavits by the parties involved.  Causes of death include: man fallen overboard, apoplexy, cholera, convulsions, congestion of the brain, accidental drowning, suicide by pistol shot, and an infant child for lack of nourishment.  Among the coroners were Thomas L. King and Milton Baldwin.
