Membership certificates for the Italian Historical Society, and
the Society of the Relief of Widows and Orphans of Medical Men in
New Jersey; material relating to the Essex County Medical Society
and the Comitato del Consiglio Comunale per la Celebrazione
del Columbus Day
  (Common Council Committee for the
Columbus Day Parade).  The collection contains two
broadsides in Italian and a fragment from Il Risveglio
Coloniale
an Italian weekly from Newark, New Jersey.  Of
special interest is a letter from Generoso Pope to Bianchi, April
15, 1931, regarding a conference of representatives of Italian
organizations for the purpose of considering the adoption of the
most effective means for stopping the presentation upon the stage
of acts or scenes which hold the Italian up to ridicule or
contempt.  Dr. Bianchi was a prominent Newark physician who
served as chief of obstetrics at Columbus Hospital for seventeen
years. He was very active in charitable, civic and
Italian-American activities and served on the Newark Board of
Alderman, 1911-1917.

Given in memory of Dr. Angelo Bianchi by Mrs. Carmela Pecora,
1980.
