Frederick L. Hipp (1908- ) left his home in rural Ohio with a
friend in September 1929 to embark upon a ten-month tour of
Europe and the Middle East.  Three journals and 21 letters
from Hipp to his parents in Malinto, Ohio document Hipp’s travels
across the United States and to Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Romania,
Yugoslavia, Italy, France, and Germany.  Some of these
letters were published in the Ohio newspaper Northwest
Napoleon News
(six issues are part of this collection).
After his travels, Hipp began his college education and went on
to serve as the director of New Jersey Education Association from
1946 to 1978.
