Documents, chiefly correspondence, but including wills, receipts, deeds, indentures, and genealogical data, concerning Newark, New Jersey doctor Isaac Ward and his son, Dr. William Rankin Ward (1870-1955). Also included are materials pertaining to the family of Henry Meeker of Clinton, New Jersey. Henry Meeker’s daughter married Dr. William R. Ward. The collection contains a photo of Dr. W.R. Ward with children in front of the Old Stone Schoolhouse in Newark. Also included are deeds and mortgages for properties in Essex County, 1835-1885; insurance policies; checks and bills of Henry Meeker; and letters written by Joseph Beers Ward to his family from Oberlin College and Brown University, 1853-1854; letters of Caroline Ward describing her experiences of teaching at the Spring Garden Institute, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; the letters of Matilda Ward, a student, as well as the correspondence of:
