Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Content NoteThis collection consists of a ledger, receipts, and statements detailing the account balances of Benjamin Scudder from 1784-1832. The ledger lists many people associated with Benjamin Scudder, although exact relationships are not known. Each individual account is divided into debit and credit columns. Many entries report the sale or purchase of various foodstuffs. Entries listing the performance of manual labor, such as chopping wood, fixing farm equipment, and mowing grass, are also prevalent. The entries in the ledger indicate that Benjamin Scudder might have owned land that was farmed and operated a mill.
