Jonathan Mulford Wilcox (Willcocks, Willcox) (fl.1815-1836) was a mason, cobbler, and handyman working in New Providence, New Jersey. He was the son of Levi Wilcocks (ca.1760-1840), a Revolutionary War soldier, and Esther Valentine (1763-1840). Jonathan married Sally Tucker (1790-1849) and had three children: John Tucker (b.1814), Silas, and Mehitabel.
The majority of this volume consists of daybook entries from 1815-1816 from an unknown general store located in New Providence, New Jersey. Jonathan M. Wilcox, however, also used the volume as an account book for his various businesses. His entries date from 1822-1836 and document such jobs as masonry, shoe repair, painting, and transportation of firewood. The accounts are indexed.
