After expanding and adding more lodges it separated from the English lodge in 1834 and created the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in North America (United States and Canada). In 1851 the Degree of Rebekah was started for wives and daughters of Odd Fellow members. It later developed into it’s own Lodges, of which the Samaritan Lodge is one.
