Historical Note
Atlantic City held the first Miss America Pageant on September 8, 1921. The annual pageant has been held there ever since.

Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of programs for the Miss America Pageant as well as for the Miss Atlantic County and Miss New Jersey pageants, both of which are preliminary contests that lead up to the national contest. The programs contain photographs of the pageant, a photograph and profile of each contestant and judge, and a list of previous winners. They also contain several articles about the contest and its contestants.
