In 1923, a group of women in and around New Brunswick established
a literary club called the Current Event Society, which later
became the New Brunswick Study Club. Members met monthly to
discuss topics of contemporary interest, and to evaluate newly
published books, present papers, and hear guest speakers.
Included in the collection are the constitutions and by-laws of
the organization, a treasurer’s book, 1952-1972, Study Club
programs, 1926-1978, secretary’s minutes, 1923-1975; and material
concerning the fiftieth anniversary of the club.
