Historical NoteThe first services in what came to be known as the Stone House Plains (now Bloomfield, New Jersey) Dutch Reformed Church were held in a barn in 1795, and became incorporated in 1801 with Peter Stryker (1763-1847) as its first pastor. The first church building was erected at 10 Bellevue Avenue the following year. Eventually, the church changed its name to the Brookdale Reformed Church. After a fire destroyed the original structure, a larger church similar to the original was constructed, which still stands.
