Biographical Note

Alice B. Hamilton was a Jersey City, New Jersey based Republican politcal activist who served as an alternate delegate in the 1936, 1940 (and possibly the 1944) Republican National Conventions. She was interested in elevating the role of women in the Republican Party and encouraged women to be more politically active within the Party. She was married to J. Burt Hamilton.

Included in the collection are newspaper sections, pamphlets and documents pertaining to the 1936 Republican National Convention, held in Cleveland, Ohio; correspondence with New Jersey governors Harold Hoffman (Republican) and A. Harry Moore (Democrat); generic political and governmental pamphlets; typed speech transcripts; pamphlets from the 1940 Republican National Convection held in Philadelphia, Pa.; and unidentified photographs relating to Alice B. Hamilton.
