Scope and Content Note

The papers in this collection consist of blank forms from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, as well as clippings of newspaper and magazine articles. The blank forms are a money order, circa 1890, from The North Ward National Bank of Newark, of Newark, New Jersey, and seven copies of blank receipts from The White House Dairy, Delicatessen and Grocery (which was owned by Ms. White’s grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. J.M. Robbie), located at 145 Bloomfield Avenue, in Newark, New Jersey, which date from approximately 1910. Additionally, a newspaper article on the visit by the women of The New Jersey Historical Society to the landmarks of Freehold, New Jersey is included; it appeared in the September 15, 1972, issue of the Asbury Park Evening Press. The magazine article in the papers, entitled “Sydenham House Restored,” appeared in the January – February 1976 installment of Metro Newark! Magazine. Both articles refer to the historic preservation activities of Mrs. White’s mother, Helen Crandall Wallace.  Two copies of the obituary of Helen Crandall Wallace, which appeared in The Newark Star-Ledger on October 4, 1996, complete the collection.
