Biographical NoteLittle is know about “Sallie,” the Trenton teacher who wrote this letter, except what can be learned from the text of the letter itself. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Content NoteThe collection consists of a letter from “Sallie” addressed to her sister, Maggie, dated January 16, 1851. In the letter, Sallie reports the hard time she has securing new students, accounts for her current financial difficulties, and requests that money be sent from home immediately. She also describes in detail the activities of common acquaintances.
