Biographical NoteVito (Silvio) Francis Lanza served the United States in World War I, seeing action in France. As a civilian, Lanza resided in Long Island, New York, where he acted as managing clerk in a law office. Lanza received a law degree from New York University in 1915 and passed the New York State Bar Examination in 1916. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Content NoteThis collection consists of a combination of personal and public correspondence and documents. Several letters are from “Bill” to “Aunt Kitty” (their relationship with Silvio Lanza is unclear), all dated 1918. The collection also contains official documents issued by the government, dated 1917-1918, the first three issues of “The Lakehurst Bomb”, a newsletter printed in 1918, and an essay written after 1945 about the effects of centrifugal force on pilots.
