This Archives of The New Jersey Historical Society provides access to its collections through this online database of collection finding guides. These guides provide detailed descriptions of the creator of the collection, his/her biographical information, lists of items in the collection and other information. Please be aware that the content of these collections are not in this database (e.g. the diary or the church records mentioned in a finding guide) and are only available at our facility in Newark! The hyperlinks referenced below provide a “browsing” access to the online finding aids and a search engine at the right column allows for key word search. The finding guides online cover the manuscript, photograph, ephemera, vertical file, biographical file and family file collections in varying degrees of specificity depending on when the guide was created. The guides do not include any printed material in the library such as books, pamphlets, maps, broadsides or rare books, but additional card catalogs exist in our library facility that reference what materials are in the printed collection (see our Card Catalog page for additional information or contact our library staff to determine if a particular item is a part of the library’s collections).
