Parkhurst, a Newark, New Jersey farmer, was born in November 1767. In April of 1836, he was elected as an alderman of Newark. He died on March 29, 1852. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and Content NoteThis collection consists of 4 volumes of Henry L. Parkhurst’s daybooks dating from 1795-1850. The daybook entries are chronological and detail the product sold and the cost for each transaction. Parkhurst sold flax, cartloads of wood, potatoes, corn, calfskin, Indian meal, oats and a number of other products. In volumes 2, 3, and 4, Parkhurst also kept brief notes describing individual cattle and indicating how many he owned and which ones were out to pasture.
